When: Thursday, April 10, 2014, 7:45 AM EST
Where: Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia
Angel Cabrera (+130) vs. Graeme McDowell (-150) (9:00 AM EST)
[sc:Golf240banner ]After narrowly losing thanks to a birdie on the second extra hole in last year’s Masters, 44-year-old Angel Cabrera returns in hopes of winning his second tourney title. Up first on his plate is Geaeme McDowell, whose farthest attainment in Augusta is making the Top 12 in 2012. Cabrera, in comparison, won the competition in 2009, but hasn’t accomplished anything major in 2014, much like McDowell.
Prediction: Cabrera, an expert at Augusta, should take down his counterpart. Cabrera is also offers a lot of value to win the tournament at +3,000. Bet all the Masters competitors to win the championship here.
Nick Watney (-130) vs. Fred Couples (+110) (9:20 AM EST)
Though Watney’s odds to win the Masters stand at +8,000, he’s been spectacular lately at the tournament, making the cut in each of the last five seasons. That accomplishment can be said by only six other golfers. Couples, on the other hand, is one of only two guys to finish in the Top 15 in the last four years straight. And unlike Watney, he has won a Masters tournament before – in 1992.
Prediction: History shows Watney has been better at the Masters than his opponent, take Nick to continue that trend this year.
Jimmy Walker (+105) vs. Harry English (-125) (9:35 AM EST)
This match up should be closely followed by bettors because it features two Masters rookies who will be present in the tournament for many more years to come. The 24-year-old Harry English proved he wasn’t all hype after winning the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis last June to earn a spot in this competition. His adversary, Jimmy Walker, though already 35-years-old, has six professional wins on his resume.
Prediction: Look for the younger English to prevail.
Rory McIlroy (-105) vs. Adam Scott (-115) (10:40 AM EST)
Rory Mcllroy often underperforms at the Masters. In his storied career, the Irish golfer has only made the Top 15 once. His 33-year-old opponent, meanwhile, is coming in with a lot of momentum after tying the course record at Bay Hill Club & Lodge (10-under-par 62) during the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Prediction: Scott shows why he’s the highest ranked golfer in this field and bests Mcllroy.
Jason Day (-105) vs. Matt Kuchar (-115) (12:20 PM EST)
Jason Day and Matt Kuchar have both been close to Masters titles before. In 2011, the former came second, while the latter placed third a year later. Out of the two, Day is coming in with a bigger head of steam, having won WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in February. Kuchar won the same title in 2013, and then followed it up by winning the Memorial Tournament in June.
Prediction: In a tough match up, lean on Kuchar who has done more at Augusta lately.
