Jiri Vesely’s edge (+325):

Don’t sleep on Vesely. While Vesely has never gone past the third round of Wimbledon since joining the event in 2013, the 22-year-old pro appears to be making huge strides this year. His latest performance was masterclass over Joao Sousa, whom he defeated in the third round, 6-2, 6-2, 7-5. In that match, Vesely fired 12 aces and hit 32 winners.

In three matches in the tournament, Vesely has already gathered 69 winners and 26 aces. Facing a ranked opponent shouldn’t also be that imposing for Vesely. After all, he already has two wins over top-10 players this season, including his monstrous upset win over Novak Djokovic back in April during the ATP Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.

Vesely is 5-2 in his last seven grass court matches.

Tomas Berdych’s edge (-450):

Berdych has been toying with the competition so far at All England Club. He continued his march towards the Wimbledon championship with a dominant 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over Alexander Zverev in the third round. Berdych owes his success to his fantastic service game. Berdych, who has won 48 of his 63 first serve points against Zverev, has collected 44 winners and has 76 percent or better of his first serve points since the first round.

Experience is clearly on the side of Berdych, as the 30-year-old pro has reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon twice and the fourth round six times before. Berdych won his only match against Vesely in 2015 in Shenzhen, defeating the younger Czech in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Writer’s Pick:

Berdych (+325) wins in four sets.
