Top 10 Major League Baseball Rookies of 2017
10. Trey Mancini, LF, Baltimore Orioles
While his numbers don’t really standout, there’s no question that Mancini’s been a reliable option for the O’s, especially against right-handed pitchers. He carries a solid line of .278/.316/1.000 in that particular matchup this season.
9. Manuel Margot, CF, San Diego Padres
Margot finished April with a bang, closing out with a .300 batting average, including two steals, in the final nine games. He continued to sizzle in his first game of May, going 2-for-5 with an RBI and his third steal of the season versus the Rockies.
8. Taylor Motter, RF, Seattle Mariners
Motter has been a welcoming surprise for the Mariners, who are an intriguing sleeper pick at the price of +3,000 to win the 2017 World Series. The 27-year-old had a hot stretch in the middle of April, which was highlighted by his first-ever grand slam in a dominant 8-0 win at Detroit.
7. Manny Pina, C, Milwaukee Brewers
Despite splitting equal playing time with Jett Bandy at the plate, Pina’s performance this season is good enough to put his name on this list. The 29-year-old catcher is batting .385 and has five games with at least two hits.
6. Josh Bell, 1B, Pittsburgh Pirates
It’s been a slow start for the Bucs, but they should be enamored with Bell’s play thus far. He ended April with a .358 batting average and .815 OPS, the second-best among all NL rookies. But the 24-year-old first baseman’s gone back down to earth in two games this month, going 0-for-8.
5. Antonio Senzatela, SP, Colorado Rockies
Senzatela is 3-1 with a 2.81 ERA this season, with the lone loss coming against a red-hot Nationals squad last week. He’s also fanned 18 batters and walked only seven thus far. He’s been truly one of the best starters for the Rockies without a doubt.
4. Yuli Gurriel, 1B, Houston Astros
Gurriel’s been right on the money as of this writing, hitting .358 with, eight RBIs, six doubles and a pair of homers in his last 15 games. Houston went 10-5 in that stretch, and continues to look so worth it as a +700 World Series favorite.
3. Mitch Haniger, RF, Seattle Mariners
Apart from the previously-mentioned Motter, another rook that the Mariners are crazy about is Haniger, who has captivated many to the tune of a solid .342/.447/.608 line this year. Unfortunately, he’s been on the disabled list after suffering an oblique strain against the Tigers on April 26. Hopefully, Haniger can pick up from where he left off when he returns.
2. Andrew Benintendi, LF, Boston Red Sox
Benintendi has been anything close to sensational in his rookie season for the Red Sox, the second-leading favorite (+600) to win the World Series. He’s second in batting (.320) in a team that’s loaded with proven hitters. And if that’s not enough to impress you, he also leads Boston in RBIs, OBP and total hits.
1. Aaron Judge, RF, New York Yankees
You be the judge of Judge. He’s arguably the best hitter on the Yankees lineup right now with a phenomenal .313/.424/.795 line. He leads the American League with a 1.219 OPS and recently bashed his majors-leading 13th dinger of the season, which also made him the youngest player in league history to reach that mark.
If the Pinstripers go all the way this season, they can thank Judge for that. They’re priced at +1,600 to do so.
So now that you’ve gotten to know more about these promising youngsters of baseball, it’s time to create a betting account now and cash in on all the action in the 2017 MLB season!
