Betting Preview for the Tricia Torres vs Angela Hill Women Strawweight Bout at UFC 265 on August 7, 2021

Where: Toyota Center (Houston), Houston, TX

When: Saturday, August 7, 2021

Odds: Tricia Torres (-135) vs. Angela Hill (+105)

TV Broadcast: UFC Fight Pass

Betting on Tricia Torres (-135)

MMA Record: 12-5-0

Torres is on the comeback trail, as she has successfully recovered from a four-fight win streak by winning both of his last two fights. She scored a unanimous decision victory over Brianna Van Buren in June 2020 then pulled off another win just before that year ended against Sam Hughes via TKO on doctor’s stoppage. Torres should have the psychological advantage over Hill. After all, she defeated Hill way back in UFC 215 in a dominant unanimous decision victory. In that fight, Torres landed more significant strikes (32-27) and more takedowns (2-0) as opposed to Hill, and she’s hoping that she can overwhelm Hill again this time around. Torres’ striking has been on point of late. She has outstruck her past two opponents, 126-54. Once Torres gets her striking game, Hill might find herself on the ropes, so to speak. Torres is landing 4.3 significant strikes per minute, while Hill absorbs 4.98.

Betting on Angela Hill (+105)

MMA Record: 13-9-1

When Hill lost to Torres in 2015, that was only her third fight as a pro. With more fights under her belt, and obviously, more experienced, Hill will look to avenge that loss this coming Saturday. In her last fight, Hill scored a unanimous decision win over Ashley Yoder just last March. That snapped a two-fight win streak and has gotten her some much-needed momentum. Nicknamed “Overkill,” Hill has been busy of late, having fought four times since 2020, going 2-2 in that stretch. Hill should use her four-inch reach advantage in a more effective manner this time around against Torres. She is also taller by two inches than Torres and a more prolific striker. Hill is landing 5.66 significant strikes per minute. She’s got some serious power as well, as evidenced by her five T/KO wins. Torres isn’t much of a grappler, but even if she takes to take Hill to the ground again, she’s probably not going to have much success this time, as Hill owns a 76 percent takedown defense.

Writer’s Prediction

Torres wins via stoppage.
