UFC Fight Night 111 Betting Preview

Holly Holm (-650) vs Bethe Correia (+425)
Women’s Bantamweight

Holm (10-3) will enter having lost three straight fights. Her last win was the clinic he put on then-champion Ronda Rousey in UFC  193, who interestingly knocked out Correia in 34 seconds at UFC 190. Since then, the trio of matches Holm had saw her failing to establish true rhythm, which resulted in a submission and two decision losses. Still, “The Preacher’s Daughter” should be considered dangerous coming in, as she possesses world champion-level boxing and deadly kicks.

Correia (10-2), too, only has one win in her last four fights (two losses and one draw). Similar to Holm, though, she can’t be taken lightly despite the struggles. “Pitbull” has good boxing and grappling in her repertoire, and never fails to provide aggression in her performances.

Writer’s Prediction: Holm wins via unanimous decision.

Andrei Arlovski (+205) vs Marcin Tybura (-270)
Heavyweight

Arlovski (25-14) has similarities to the two fighters we just talked about. He was a former teammate of Holm at the famed Jackson Wink MMA Academy, and he and Correia both have the nickname “Pitbull.”

Moving past those fun facts, though, things appear to be bleak for Arlovski, as he has lost four straight fights via finishes (three TKO/KOs and one submission). In those contests, though able to showcase some of the trademark punching power and combinations, he eventually got tagged or trapped.

This upcoming battle with another well-equipped fighter could mark his fifth consecutive defeat. Tybura (15-2) showed improvements in his last few appearances, displaying patience, comfortability, defense, and more effective striking, particularly in kicks. If he is able to execute well, he may prove to be too much for his opponent. He’s boasting 13 finishes in his 15 wins (seven TKO/KOs and six submissions).

Writer’s Prediction: Tybura TKOs Arlovski in the third round.

Dong Hyun Kim (+260) vs Colby Covington (-340)
Welterweight

Kim (22-3-1) is parading three straight victories, two of which were finishes (one TKO and one submission). He has top-notch grappling and takedown defense (80 percent), while also having the ability to dictate the pace of the match. However, the man is flat-out unpredictable in a bad way – you can never tell which version of Kim is going to come out of the curtain. There will be days where he just becomes a careless striker that ignites an exchange and forgets his defensive techniques.

Careless or not, though, Covington (11-1), hasn’t faced anyone like Kim. The fight will be a good opportunity to raise his stocks, and we’ll probably see him rely on his forte: wrestling (six of his 11 Ws are via submission). In that department, he should be able to have some success, which cannot be said in his striking since it’s still decent at best at this point.

Expect a good clash on Covington’s aggressive takedowns and Kim’s great defense.

Writer’s Prediction: Kim submits Covington.

Rafael Dos Anjos (+280) vs Tarec Saffiedine (-210)
Welterweight

After a disappointing end to his career at the lightweight division, Dos Anjos (25-9) is now in great shape to start his run at Welterweight. We should see him be quick in trying to impose his Muay Thai and various combinations, be it punches or kicks. Look for the former champ to also be aggressive moving forward, as he likes to put opponents on the fence right away to open up options on striking and ground-and-pound.

Saffiedine (16-6) has agility, quickness, and patience in his list of strengths. When he’s on, he’s nifty on his leg kicks and can execute his strategies well. Basing it on the stretch he’s in, though, he may end up being a “sparring match” for the 170-debuting Dos Anjos. The 30-year-old Saffiedine has lost in three of his last four, one of which was a TKO.

Writer’s Prediction: Dos Anjos will win in a convincing decision.
