The Wake Forest Demon Deacons has to straighten up its act soon. Otherwise, the Demon Deacons will just keep on falling in the ACC standings. Betting on the Wake Forest Demon Decons (8-8)

On paper, Wake Forest looks like a deer in the headlights of the Blue Devils, but the Demon Deacons could be competitive against Coach K’s boys if they could play disciplined basketball. Wake Forest is a decent offensive team, one that is averaging 77.1 points per game, but often shoots itself in the foot by being careless. The school is turning the ball over 13.6 times a game. Duke, however, has the worst defense in the ACC, so the likes of Bryant Crawford and Keyshawn Woods both have the potential to erupt. Crawford leads Wake Forest with 16.2 points per game, while Woods averages 14.8 this season.

Wake Forest has been quite competitive when in Durham of late, as it is 3-2 SU in its last five trips there and 4-2 ATS in the last six games in this matchup as the road team.

Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (14-2)

Duke owns the best offense in the nation in terms of scoring with 93.9 points per game. It also has the best player in the conference in Marvin Bagley III. Bagley showed why he is headed to the NBA lottery once he leaves Durham on Wednesday, when he racked this third-straight double-double. Bagley scored 16 points and got 15 rebounds against the hapless Panthers, who might as well asked for the freshman’s autograph as they were clearly not on his level. Bagley leads the ACC in points (22.5) and rebounds (11.5), and there’s a good chance he will tower over the competition again this Saturday against a Wake Forest team that is not a good defensive team either. (The Demon Deacons allow 72.5 points per game.) Bagley is barely the only one Wake Forest has to worry about, though. Duke also has four other players that average no fewer than 12.4 points per game, including Grayson Allen (16.8) and Wendell Carter Jr. (13.5)

Writer’s Prediction:

Duke’s firepower is going to be too much for Wake Forest. The Blue Devils will win this hell of a fight, 92-79.
