The NFC East is considered the worst division in the NFL this season, but it’s also the most unpredictable. At this moment, there’s a three-way tie for the second spot in the division behind current leaders Philadelphia Eagles, though all of them have exactly three total wins. That means the winner of Thursday’s contest between the Washington Football Team and the Dallas Cowboys could at least momentarily lead the division.

Regular Season Record: 3-7
Washington picked up a win in Week 11, as the Football Team defeated the Cincinnati Bengals at home, 20-9. Antonio Gibson had a fantastic outing against the Bengals, as the rookie running back gathered 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. That’s a nice performance for Gibson to jump off of before seeing the Cowboys on the field again this Thursday. But Gibson had already carved up Dallas’ defense back in Week 7’s 25-3 home win by Washington in which he had 128 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Given Gibson’s rise and the poor quality of the Cowboys’ stop unit, Washington will likely turn to the rookie once again, as it looks to dominate Dallas anew. The Cowboys are second-worst in the league against the pass, with opponents producing 153.8 rushing yards per game. Expect Terry McLaurin to be a factor for Washington as well. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star has been quietly putting together impressive numbers despite inconsistency in the quarterback situation in Washington. McLaurin, who had 90 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches in the win over Dallas, has 787 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 57 receptions so far this season.
Washington is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games in Dallas.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-7
The Cowboys snapped a four-game losing skid on Sunday by pulling off a 31-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings on the road. In the win, the Cowboys showed that they can put together a nice win on the backs of their offense against teams with shaky defenses like Minnesota. Washington carries a defense that is top 10 in both opponents’ scoring and total yards per game, but it was clearly bailed out by Joe Burrow’s injury in its win over the Bengals last Sunday. Plus, the Football Team has given up at least 200 yards in each of their last three games. With Andy Dalton healthy and playing like his old self in the win over Minnesota, the Cowboys suddenly have confidence in their offense. Dalton had 203 passing yards and three touchdowns with an interception on 22-of-32 completions in the Vikings game, while Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries. Elliott should be fed more in the backfield on Thursday, as he only had 12 rushing attempts in the first meeting with Washington.
The over is 6-4 in the Cowboys’ last 10 games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys win, 26-22.
