Pitching Edge – San Francisco Giants (-140)
Both Tanner Roark (9-6, 3.05 ERA) and Johnny Cueto (13-2, 2.53 ERA) have played well throughout this season, but the latter has been better without a doubt.Cueto has logged in at least six innings in each of his last 11 starts while allowing just one earned run or fewer during that stretch. And more importantly, he’s pitched solidly across nine starts at home this season, owning a 5-1 win-loss record along with a quality 2.43 ERA. There’s no question that the Giants, who are priced at +250 to win the National League pennant, do have the edge on the mound later tonight.
Batting Edge – San Francisco Giants (-140)
San Francisco will have the advantage at the plate, too. The trio of Buster Posey, Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford should be in line for a productive outing against the Washington—a team which they’ve all fared really well against and one that’s currently pegged at +650 to win it all this year.
Posey, who leads the Giants in batting (.285) and homers (12), owns a career triple-slash line of .302/.358/.444 versus the Nationals. Belt and Crawford, meanwhile, are hitting .344 and .303, respectively, in the same matchup. Those two have also combined for a total of 192 hits, 112 runs batted in and 23 home runs on the season.
Writer’s Prediction: Giants (-140) win it, 4-2
