Fantasy Football Week 2 Sleeper Picks

1) Jake Locker (Quarterback, Tennessee Titans)

[sc:NFL240banner ]QB Jake Locker showed he is one player fantasy owners should feel confident starting as he delivered an impressive performance in the Tennessee Titans’ opener against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. He completed 22-of-33 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns in his first game under new coach Ken Whisenhunt and many are expecting that he can finally achieve his true potential this season after a string of injuries have stalled his young NFL career.

He can build on his solid Week 1 performance when he takes on the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys allowed 6,645 yards last year which is the third-most by a defense in NFL history. With the Titans offense firing on all cylinders this early in the season, look out for Locker to post huge numbers this week.

2) Darren Sproles (Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles)

When the Jacksonville Jaguars entered the halftime break with a 17-0 lead against the Philadelphia Eagles in their opening-day encounter, it looked like one of the biggest upsets in recent NFL memory will take place. Fortunately for Eagles fans, Darren Sproles had other ideas. He rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in addition to his 14 receiving yards as he single-handedly gave the Eagles the jolt it needed to avoid an embarrassing Week 1 defeat.

With Chip Kelly entrusting a significant role to Sproles in his high-octane offense, he can deliver big numbers to his fantasy owners in Week 2 as the Eagles face the Colts next.

3) Steve Smith (Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens)

Steve Smith

Even though the Ravens lost a tough 23-16 game to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, they will be pretty satisfied with the performance of WR Steve Smith who had a sterling performance for Baltimore last Sunday.

The veteran caught 7-of-15 targets for 118 yards and a touchdown in his debut. His TD was a thing of beauty as he broke through two tackles for a stunning 80-yard touchdown reception. With Joe Flacco learning to trust his new receiver more, expect Smith to get touches and improve on his fantasy numbers this season. The Ravens will face the Steelers this coming Thursday.

4) Levine Toilolo (Tight End, Atlanta Falcons)

Levine Toilolo is enjoying himself in the Falcons’ offense as he steps into the role of retired tight end Tony Gonzales. Even though he caught only three balls last Sunday, one of those went for a touchdown. Expect Toilolo to be one of the main targets of Matt Ryan as the season progresses.

His ability in the red zone will make him a good buy for fantasy owners in Week 2 as the Falcons face the Bengals next.

5) Tony Romo (Quarterback, Dallas Cowboys)

Tony Romo may have struggled in his first competitive game since undergoing back surgery but deep down you know that there is a bounce-back game out there for the 34-year-old quarterback. Most fantasy owners may lose faith quickly in Romo given his disappointing performance in Week 1 but the Cowboys have compiled a 9-5 record since 2012 in games they have played following a defeat.

A huge game from Romo may be in the cards this coming Sunday as the Cowboys square off with the Tennessee Titans.
