West Ham heads into Old Trafford as winners of their previous four games, including a dramatic come-from-behind win over Everton last Saturday.

Overall, the offense has been clicking for the Hammers, who have scored 10 goals in total during that four-game stretch. And now, they’ll be looking to sustain their momentum by emerging victorious in their quarter-finals date with Manchester United this weekend.

Key to their success will ultimately depend on Michail Antonio and Cheikhou Kouyate. Both have proven to be very capable scorers for West Ham, as they’ve combined for 15 goals all in all this season. Antonio, in particular, leads the team with 11 goals but has only found the net once in his past five games.

Meanwhile, defense will arguably be their biggest liability in this match. The Hammers’ manager Slaven Bilic is in a pretty tough situation at this end of the field with the likes of James Collins, James Tomkins, Joey O’Brien and Winston Reid all dealing with injuries.

Fortunately though, West Ham’s been coping with this defensive injury crisis relatively well, allowing just 1.0 goals in the past six games, which includes back-to-back shutouts versus Sunderland and Tottenham.

West Ham vs Manchester United Predictions – March 2016

Frustrations are hovering Manchester United (and their fans) right now. They enter this quarter-finals showdown coming off back-to-back losses. The latest one proved to be the most discouraging, as the Red Devils were beaten, 2-0, in their first Europa League meeting with Liverpool on Thursday.  The only bright spot for United in that game was David De Gea.

De Gea did his best to save his team from further embarrassment with six spectacular saves. His teammates, meanwhile, struggled and looked limited from start to finish. But what’s done is done and United will now hope that their brilliant goalkeeper can receive some support this time around, when they take on West Ham at Old Trafford.

That said, team manager Louis van Gaal will put most of his trust on the pair of Anthony Martial and Juan Mata to lead their attack.  The two have been unable to find the net in the past few games, but they’ll have no choice but to stay aggressive especially with their captain in Wayne Rooney still sidelined with a knee injury.

Martial and Mata have combined for 18 goals across all competitions this year. And it’ll be interesting to see if they’ll find some opportunities against the Hammers, who have only given up three goals in their last three matches.

Writer’s Prediction

West Ham (+275) wins, 2-1.
