Why Rickie Fowler Will Win the 2015 PGA Championship – PGA Golf Betting Preview

One of the hottest young stars in golf, Rickie Fowler has it all: the looks, the game, the super hot girlfriend. However, one thing he doesn’t have (yet) is a major championship, despite coming very close in all four tournaments last year. That’s bound to change in a few days’ time though, as Fowler looks set to claim the upcoming 2015 PGA Championship, to be held from August 13-16 at Whistling Straits.

Read on below and check out our top three reasons why Fowler will be the one to lift the Wanamaker Trophy. Also, don’t forget to check out our other features on why Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson and even Sergio Garcia will end up victorious.

Three Reasons Why Rickie Fowler Will Win the 2015 PGA Championship

Major Potential

Jordan Spieth has taken the golf world by storm this season with excellent performances in the first three golf majors, cementing his status as golf’s “next big thing.” However, it wasn’t too long ago that that title belonged to Fowler.

[sc:Golf240banner ]Fowler was the toast of the golf world back in 2014, as he finished in the top five five in all four majors. He finished T5 in the Masters; T2 in both the US and British Open; and T3 in the PGA Championship, which was then held in Valhalla.

For anyone not too familiar with golf, reaching the top five in all four majors in a single season is one heck of a feat. In fact, only two golfers had ever done so prior to Fowler, and they just so happen to be the two greatest golfers of all-time: Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

Seeing as Fowler is included in a very short list with two golfers that have a combined 32 majors, it’s probably safe to say Fowler has all the potential in the world to win a major or two himself. As such, he’s a sneaky +1,800 sleeper to win his first ever major at the PGA Championship.

Fine Form

After that historic 2014, though, Fowler’s star has faded quite a bit this season, particularly in the majors. He finished just T12 at the Masters, T30 at The Open Championship and didn’t even make the cut at the US Open. His fellow golfers went so far as to label him “overrated” in a recent poll.

Fowler has proven he’s not all hype, though. Although Fowler has struggled in the majors, he’s still fared quite well in other tournaments. He has three top-three finishes in 15 PGA events this season, including his win at the so-called “fifth major,” The Players Championship (more on that later).

Fowler followed that win up with back-to-back missed cuts at the Memorial and US Open, but he will be in fine form heading into the final major of the year. He won the Scottish Open at the start of July over in the European Tour, finished runner-up at the Quicken Loans National in early August and finished tied for 10th along with Spieth in the recently concluded WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

Fowler Can Finish

Perhaps the reason why Fowler topped that aforementioned poll labeling him “overrated” was his lack of actual wins. Despite being in contention for all four majors last season, he still couldn’t win a single one. In fact, entering this season, the 26-year old had only one Tour win in his six-year pro career. The perception was growing that Fowler couldn’t close things out when they mattered most.

Well, Fowler should have put any of those doubts to bed after his incredible win in The Players Championship. He made yet another piece of history by finishing the last four holes at TPC Sawgrass in just 11 strokes – the best finish in Players Championship history – to enter a three-way playoff. Fowler eventually held his nerve to win a sudden-death playoff with Kevin Kisner. Still think he can’t seal the deal?

Whistling Straits –the site of this year’s PGA Championship – will be a challenging course to play due in large part to the nearly 1,000 bunkers littered all around. But after Fowler dominated the notoriously tough 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass– including the playoff, he birdied the hole five times all tournament – en route to his spectacular finish, hardly anything seems impossible for Fowler.

Create a betting account now and cash in on the very possible chance of Fowler claiming the last golf major of the year.
