Betting on the Wichita State Shockers (19-5)

Wichita State has a tale of two halves following its 93-86 win over the Temple Owls Thursday. After allowing 56 first-half points, Wichita State tightened its defense up in the second half and went to work, limiting the Owls after the half to only 30 points while scoring 51 of its own. Shocker center Shaq Morris led his team with 23 points on a near-flawless 9-of-10 shooting from the field. Guard Landry Shamet, meanwhile, scored 10 points and dished out five assists to go with two steaks. Morris and Shamet are going to be keys for Wichita State in trying to navigate through Cincinnati’s sturdy defense.

Wichita State is 12th in the nation with 83.8 points per game while its defense holds opponents to 69.6 points per game.

The Shockers will arrive in Newport with  8-2 SU/6-4 ATS records in their last 10 road games

Betting on the Cincinnati Bearcats (23-2)

Friday was a bloody day for a number of top 10 teams. Among the victims were the Bearcats, who took a 67-62 road loss against the Houston Cougars. The loss snapped Cincy’s 16-game win streak. Cincinnati’s offense died in the second half where the Bearcats shot just 32 percent from the field. It also did not help the Bearcats that Houston outrebounded them, 36-27.

Cincy is averaging 40.5 rebounds per game, and securing the ball off missed shots is one reason why Cronin’s team is second in the nation in defense with a mere 55.9 points allowed to opponents per game. One loss should not take sully the scary defensive resume of Cincy, which also cuts opponents’ shooting percentage down to only 36.1 percent – the best in the nation.

Cincinnati is 5-1 ATS in its last six games as the home team.

Writer’s Prediction:

Cincinnati wins, 75-73.
