The Total Payout | $7.5 million
The 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge traces its roots all the way back to 1946, with the legendary Ben Hogan winning $3,000 of the $15,000 purse. The first time the purse in this tournament reached $100,000 was in 1965, with Bruce Crampton getting the $20,000 top prize. In 1989, when the tournament was still known as the Southwestern Bell Colonial, the total prize hit the $1 million mark. It took almost two decades more before the winners’ purse got to $1 million. That was in 2005 when Kenny Perry won the Bank of America Colonial and pocketed a cool sum of $1.008 million. Last year, Daniel Berger won the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge and cashed in $1.35 million.
