Betting on the Buffalo Bills (5-4)
The Buffalo Bills are still in playoff contention, but losers of their last two games in a row. Buffalo must pull things together this week. If not, then the Bills will be sitting at home for another postseason. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor has played well for the Bills this year. He has 1684 yards passing, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions this year. Taylor has played well, but has not been overly impressive.
If the Bills don’t start winning, Taylor’s starting job could be in jeopardy. He passed for 56 yards and an interception last week. Taylor’s bench worthy performance last week has raised some eyebrows and with added pressure in an already difficult situation, Buffalo could be at a turning point of the season. Getting wins will start with the offense. Buffalo generated 198 yards of total offense in last weeks home blowout loss.
The Bills defense, was terrible in last weeks loss. The defensive unit allowed 47 points and 482 yards of offense against the Saints. If the Bills are going to keep this matchup close, the defense needs to show up. The Bills are allowing 21 points and 368 yards of offense per game this season.
They have allowed 81 points the past two games. For the Bills to be embarrassed at home like they were last week, should leave a bad taste in the players mouths. This week expect the defense to give a better effort on the road.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (3-6)
The Los Angeles Chargers are the same team they have been since the the glory days of the early and mid 2000’s. Philip Rivers is still the Chargers quarterback and the team has yet to build around him. Rivers and company are two games under .500 this season and are in a dogfight for third place in the AFC West this year. Los Angeles is 2-2 in division play.
Los Angeles has lost two games in a row and most recent lost in overtime against the Jacksonville Jaguars, 20-17. Rivers was 21 of 37 for 235 yards two touchdowns and one interception in the loss. He will need to play better this week if the Chargers are going to win.
On defense, the Chargers have been a solid defense. The secondary has been especially impressive this season. The Los Angeles secondary is allowing 228 passing yards per game this year. This week look for the defense to cause multiple turnovers. They forced two interceptions in last weeks loss.
Writer’s Prediction:
Both teams are in need of wins. Possible postseason chances can be destroyed for either team in a loss. Expect a hard fought matchup in Carson. New Bills rookie QB will have a ton of pressure to deliver a win for the Bills this week. He needs to be more than just a game manager in this one. Take the Chargers for the home win to cover in this matchup. Pick: Los Angeles (-4.5)
