Betting on the Edmonton Oilers (-1.5)
Regular Season Record: 65-12-5
The Oilers got back on track in Game 2 with a 4-2 win, thanks in large part to the heroics of Leon Draisaitl, who had two goals and an assist. Edmonton, however, is still waiting for Connor McDavid to start playing like, well, Connor McDavid in this series in which he only has a point thus far. A huge performance from McDavid should come sooner than later for the Oilers, who have averaged 4.1 goals, six assists, 3.6 penalties, and 7.2 penalty minutes in their last 10 games, while going 9-0-1 in that stretch. They are also 5-1 in their last six games against a team with a winning record.
Betting on the Los Angeles Kings (+1.5)
Regular Season Record: 42-32-8
The Kings have been a pesky customer for Edmonton. Even in their loss in Game 2, the Kings gave the Oilers plenty of trouble. The Oilers got the 2-0 lead in the first period, but Los Angeles battled back to tie it all up in the second period. However, they just did not have enough in the tank in the third period where the Oilers scored two unanswered goals. Nevertheless, the Kings successfully stole a game in Edmonton and have been doing an admirable job at containing the best player on the planet. Over their last 10 games, the Kings have averaged 2.7 goals, 4.5 assists, 3.4 penalties, and 8.8 penalty minutes, while going 5-5-0 in that same span. The Kings are 8-2 in their last 10 games when their opponent surrendered two or fewer goals in their previous game.
Writer’s Prediction
The Oilers win, 4-2.
