Betting on the Michigan Wolverines 8-2 (+7.5)
Michigan is enjoying a three-game winning streak after a 35-10 win on the road against Maryland last week. The Wolverines led 28-0 at the half and maintained through to cover as the 14-point favorite.
Surprisingly, the Wolverines were outgained by Maryland for a total of 340-305, but the bulk of those yards came when Michigan took their collective foot off the gas in garbage time. Backup QB Brandon Peters (in just his second career start) may have only completed nine passes, but they counted, going for 145 yards and two TDs, sans an interception.
The Wolverines have won their last three games by an average score of 34-11.
Currently 5-2 in conference play, the Wolverines find themselves in a tough spot in the East Division, but bowl aspirations are not dead.
Betting on the Wisconsin Badgers 10-0 (-7.5)
Wisconsin extended its 10 game undefeated streak last week with a 38-14 win over Iowa. The Badgers gave up the first seven points of the game on a pick-six in the first quarter, and even let Iowa get within three points on a following interception return for a TD. But Wisconsin pulled it together and finished the game with a 21-0 run for the win and the 12-point cover.
On the game, the Badgers outgained the Hawkeyes 247-66 and won the time of possession by a total of 38-22. Wisconsin has now outgained and outrushed every single opponent this season.
Wisconsin’s Week 11 victory clinched a spot in the Big Ten championship game, but they cannot let up here in Week 12, because they remain in the running for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Writer’s Prediction
The Wolverines are 2-0 against the spread in the last two weeks. On the flip side, Wisconsin QB Alex Hornibrook has thrown one interception or more in each of his last seven games. This may catch up with the Badgers, starting this Saturday. Pick: Smart money takes the Wolverines and the points.
