Sleeper Picks and Predictions for the 2016 Indy 500

Graham Rahal

Graham Rahal will be starting 26th at the Indy 500. It may be a daunting task to go and win from that far back, but he remains unfazed. He’s confident of a victory despite struggling during qualifying. Rahal and his team couldn’t get any balance out of the car.

Despite his struggles in qualifying, he’s still one of the best drivers around. He finished second at Alabama and fourth at the Indianapolis Grand Prix in his last two races. He has three top five finishes overall in five starts this year.

Rahal has one of the best cars in the entire field. It won’t be too surprising if he manages to cause an upset starting 26th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

J.R. Hildebrand

J.R. Hildebrand has spent most of his time racing in the Formula Drift series. He’s only had one race in the IndyCar Series this year, finishing 22nd at the Indianapolis Grand Prix.

But he’s had a fair bit of success at the track in recent years, especially when the Indy 500 rolls along. Hildebrand finished eighth in last year’s big race, and 10th in 2014. He also came from out of nowhere to snag a second-place finish in his very first Indy 500 back in 2011.

Marco Andretti

Marco Andretti has finished in the top 20 in all five of his races this season. He’s been very consistent but has lacked the finishing punch to finally win a race. He returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he finished sixth in last year’s Indy 500. Expect him to have his best performance to date in Sunday’s race.
