Webb Simpson
One long shot who can definitely make a run at the Wyndham title is Webb Simpson. The North Carolina native has finished in the top-13 in four of his last seven starts, including a tie for third at the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational. The 31-year-old loves playing at Sedgefield as evidenced by his tournament win here back in 2011. The Wake Forest alumnus finished tied for sixth in this event last year and tied for fifth the year before. He will be making his eighth-consecutive appearance at the Wyndham Championship this week.Jason Kokrak
Looking for a worthy long shot at the Wyndham Championship this week? How about the hard-hitting Jason Kokrak? The 31-year-old American is one of the longest hitters on tour, averaging a whopping 307.4 yards per drive this season. That’s sixth-best on the PGA Tour this campaign. That extreme length off the tee will be a major weapon for Kokrak as he tackles the 7,127-yard, par-70 Sedgefield course here at Greensboro. Kokrak has finished in the top-50 in each of his last four outings. He is coming off a 34th-place finish at the Travelers Championship.
Carl Pettersson
To say that Carl Pettersson has a disappointing 2016 season would be a severe understatement. He has yet to crack the top-50 this year, missing the cut in 14 of his 17 starts. If there’s one place, though, that can revive Pettersson’s flagging fortunes, it’s got to be Greensboro. He holds the 72-hole course record in this event, firing a 21-under-par total of 259 in his title win back in 2008. The Swede is definitely one long shot who’s worth a punt for this week.
