2017 MLB Wild Card Standings Props Update
American League (as of August 16)
Team | Record | Games Behind | AL Pennant Odds |
---|---|---|---|
New York Yankees | 63-55 | +3 | +600 |
Los Angeles Angels | 61-59 | – | +5,000 |
Kansas City Royals | 60-59 | 0.5 | +1,500 |
Minnesota Twins | 59-58 | 0.5 | +2,500 |
Tampa Bay Rays | 60-61 | 1.5 | +2,500 |
Seattle Mariners | 60-61 | 1.5 | +3,300 |
Baltimore Orioles | 59-61 | 2 | +3,500 |
The New York Yankees (+600) may have lost some ground to the Boston Red Sox in the race for the AL East title but they’re still in fine position to reach the postseason for the first time since 2015. The Bronx Bombers currently hold the first Wild Card in the American League with a 63-55 record. The Yankees, however, are the only constant in this wild and thrilling AL Wild Card race. Since August 1, six different teams have sat on the second AL Wild Card spot. The ones currently occupying that position right now are the red-hot Los Angeles Angels (+5,000) who are 6-1 in their last seven games.
Hot on their heels are the Minnesota Twins (+2,500) and the Kansas City Royals (+1,500) who are just a half-game behind the Angels in the AL Wild Card race. They are already six games behind the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central standings so the wild card is their most realistic chance of gaining a postseason berth. Amazingly as well, the Baltimore Orioles (+3,500), Tampa Bay Rays (+2,500) and Seattle Mariners (+3,300) are still very much in the playoff picture even though all three teams carry losing records.
National League (as of August 16)
Team | Record | Games Behind | NL Pennant Odds |
---|---|---|---|
Colorado Rockies | 66-53 | – | +1,800 |
Arizona Diamondbacks | 66-53 | – | +1,500 |
St. Louis Cardinals | 61-58 | 5 | +1,200 |
Milwaukee Brewers | 62-59 | 5 | +2,500 |
Pittsburgh Pirates | 58-61 | 8 | +1,600 |
Miami Marlins | 57-61 | 8.5 | +20,000 |
New York Mets | 53-64 | 12 | +20,000 |
Two teams have separated themselves from the chasing bunch in the NL Wild Card race: namely the Colorado Rockies (+1,800) and Arizona Diamondbacks (+1,500). The Los Angeles Dodgers may have squashed their NL West title aspirations but the Rockies and the D-Backs are still in with a postseason shout via the wild card. As of August 16, Colorado and Arizona are five games clear of nearest pursuers St. Louis (+1,200) and Milwaukee (+2,500) in the NL Wild Card race. Rounding up our list of contenders are the Pittsburgh Pirates (+1,600), Miami Marlins (+20,000) and New York Mets (+20,000). With all three teams carrying losing records, however, their path to the playoffs look pretty bleak.
