2017 NCAA Football Futures, Win Totals, and Predictions
Clemson Tigers
O/U wins: 9.5
If you are hoping to see Clemson have a good ‘ol decline this 2017, you are likely to be disappointed. New starting quarterback Kelly Bryant and the offense, which will now have a trio of eager running backs, will be protected by the top-notch offensive line. The defensive front is still disruptive too (eighth in scoring defense last year), especially since NFL-ready guys Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins are returning.

Alabama Crimson Tide
O/U wins: 10.5
SEC’s undisputed kings of football will also be in a transitional period, with much of their main core gone. Like their inter conference rival, Clemson, though, a drop off isn’t imminent. Exciting sophomore QB Jalen Hurts should be ready to fully takeover the offense, and their defense, with new leaders Da’Ron Payne and Da’Shawn Hand, should be able to keep ‘Bama’s D at the top of the pecking order.

USC Trojans
O/U wins: 9.5
It has to be about their star QB and future NFL first-round pick Sam Darnold… or is it?
There’s no denying his skills under center, as evidenced in his performance at the Rose Bowl against Penn State. The big question is if he can stay at an elite level now that five key starters on offense are gone (three from the o-line and two from the receiving corps).
Writer’s prediction: Barely UNDER
Washington Huskies
O/U wins: 10.5
Even with speedy and explosive receiver John Ross gone, the 2017 Washington Huskies should still remain as a force to be reckoned with. There’s just no notable weaknesses from top to bottom, as led by QB Jake Browning, RB Myles Gaskin, and the well-rounded group of pass-catchers. The same can be said about their defense – a couple of starters getting drafted into the pros isn’t good, but the replacements should make up for them well enough.
Writer’s prediction: OVER
Ohio State Buckeyes
O/U wins: 10.5
THE Ohio State University will have an intriguing path to the 2017 season. Veteran dual-threat QB JT Barrett is back to lead the offense, and he’ll have a new offensive coordinator in Kevin Wilson, who guided the Indiana Hoosiers into suddenly having a high-octane attack on O. However, three starting receivers have moved on, and Barrett and Wilson will be challenged to utilize and help enhance the new starters’ confidence right away.
The defense, meanwhile, will have a new look with plenty of starters gone. But, just as the Buckeyes have always done, they will rebuilt quickly and have new impactful players shining in no time.
Writer’s prediction: OVER
Michigan Wolverines
O/U wins: 9.5
As one of the most balanced offensive teams last year – 212 passing and 213.3 rushing yards per game – Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines are also intriguing. They have a great coach at the helm and an NFL-ready play-caller in Wilton Speight, and it will be interesting to see how well they can adjust now that they have several young, inexperienced guys to work with.
The defense is taking a massive hit, with only two of the 13 key starters returning. However, like most big-named football programs out there, not much concern should be given since coaches like Harbaugh are lightning fast in developing a new core.
