There is money to be made here in the Tar Heel State. The 2017 Wyndham Championship boasts a total purse of $5.8 million, with a hefty $1.044 million of that pot going to the eventual champion. That’s excellent news for this week’s field considering the total payout last year amounted to only $5.6 million.
To put into perspective the difference in prize money, defending champion Si Woo Kim pocketed $1,008,000 in cash winnings last year. That’s $36,000 less than the amount the Wyndham champion will receive this year. Finishing second in this tournament ain’t bad either with the runner-up receiving a cash payout of $626,400. On the other end of the table, the 70th or so golfer to make the cut this week will earn around $11,600.
