FAVORITES

Dustin Johnson (+800)

How about Dustin Johnson? He must still be smoking right now after what he’d done over the weekend in Norton, where he blew the competition out of the water. Johnson won the 2020 Northern Trust by 11 shots, firing a 30-under 254. Johnson now has two wins and five top 10s in 12 starts this season. Also worth noting here is the fact that Johnson is a two-time winner of the BMW Championship, winning it in 2010 and in 2016.

Justin Thomas (+1,200)

Thomas is another former champion of the BMW Championship. In fact, he is the defending champion of this event, winning it by three strokes last year at Medinah Country Club. Thomas, who is coming off a T49 finish at the Northern Trust, has three wins on the season with nine top 9s in 16 starts.

Rory McIlroy (+1,600)

McIlroy has yet to win since the season resumed following a break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, he’s got six top 10s and two top 3s in 13 starts this season. That includes his win at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions back in November of 2019. McIlroy won the 2012 edition of the BMW Championship held at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.

HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS

Scottie Scheffler (+2,800)

Scheffler went bonkers in the second round of the Northern Trust, wherein he fired a 59. He ended the tournament with a T4, his second such finish in a row. Scheffler has finished inside the top 15 in all of his last three starts, as he also went T15 at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

Billy Horschel (+5,000)

Horschel got cut at the Northern Trust, but he was doing fine before that. He made the cut in all previous five starts, and even had a solo runner-up finish at the Wyndham Championship. He has six top 10s in 20 starts this season.

LONG SHOTS

Maverick McNealy (+25,000)

After getting cut at the Wyndham Championship, McNealy put up a better showing at the Northern Trust by finishing T61, as he carded 5-under 279. His best finish this season was when he finished T5 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am back in February.

Andrew Landry (+25,000)

Landry has been cut in three of his last six starts and hasn’t finished better than T30 in any of those outings. He’s got a win this season, though, topping the field at The American Express in January.

Writer’s Prediction

Dustin Johnson wins the 2020 BMW Championship.
