On April 21, the world’s top golfers will assemble at TPC San Antonio for the 2016 edition of the Valero Texas Open. It’s bound to be one blockbuster event with nine of the world’s top 30 golfers competing in this week’s tournament, including defending champion Jimmy Walker and five-time major-winner Phil Mickelson.

Looking for a great sleeper this week? How about Kevin Chappell (+3,000)? The American came so close to grabbing his maiden PGA Tour title at Bay Hill last month, losing by just one shot to eventual champion Jason Day. He has been playing some excellent golf of late, finishing in the top-30 in three of his last five starts. Chappell is coming off a ninth-place showing at the recently-concluded RBC Heritage tournament.
Key to Chappell’s resurgence has been his stellar play from tee to green. He is 20th in the PGA Tour in strokes gained in that particular department with a solid .947 clip. That will be a major weapon for Chappell when dealing with the nooks and crannies of this tough Oaks course.

Brooks Koepka
One golfer who can definitely make a run at the title this week is Brooks Koepka (+1,800). The American has been on fire to start the season, grabbing top-10 finishes in four of his last nine starts. He’s fresh off a 21st-place finish at the Masters, his best-ever showing at Augusta National.
For Koepka to capture his second PGA Tour title this week, he will need to continue his outstanding play with the driver. He is 15th in the PGA Tour in driving distance this season, averaging 304.8 yards per drive. That powerful swing will come in handy when tackling the long 7,435-yard, par-72 Oaks course at TPC San Antonio.
Charley Hoffman
Charley Hoffman (+2,400) survived his ninth consecutive cut at the RBC Heritage tournament, finishing in a tie for 14th last week with a two-under-par total of 282. Hoffman has now finished in the top-30 in four of his last six starts. Hoffman will look to extend that made-cut streak at TPC San Antonio this week, the site of his top-3 finishes back in 2011 and 2013.
Hoffman loves playing in this course as evidenced by the UNLV product notching six top-15 finishes in as many starts. With the form that he is in right now and his experience with this Oaks course, expect Hoffman to post some red numbers and contend for the championship this weekend.
