On May 26, the world’s top golfers will assemble at Colonial Country Club for the 2016 edition of the Dean & DeLuca Invitational. It’s bound to be one blockbuster event, with 11 of the world’s top 30 golfers competing in this week’s tournament, including 2014 champion Adam Scott and two-time major-winner Jordan Spieth.

Hudson Swafford
Looking for a worthy long shot at the Colonial this week? How about the hard-hitting Hudson Swafford? The American is one of the longest hitters on tour, averaging a whopping 306.4 yards per drive this season. That’s seventh-best on the PGA Tour this campaign. That extreme length off the tee will be a major weapon for Swafford as he tackles the long 7,204-yard, par-70 course here at Fort Worth. Swafford is fresh off a 34th-place finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament.
Chris Stroud
To say that Chris Stroud has a disappointing 2016 season would be a severe understatement. He has yet to crack the top-10 this year, missing the cut in eight of his 15 starts. If there’s one place, though, that can revive Stroud’s flagging fortunes, it’s got to be the Colonial. He’s placed inside the top 15 in three of the last four editions, with Stroud even grabbing the 54-hole lead back in 2014. He’s definitely one long shot who’s worth a punt for this week.
Vijay Singh
One long shot who can definitely make a run at the title this week is former world no. 1 Vijay Singh. The Fijian veteran is playing some solid golf of late, finishing in a tie for 28th at the PLAYERS championship. Key to Singh’s resurgence has been his incredible efficiency off the tee. He is 62nd in the PGA Tour in that particular department with Singh posting an exceptional 144 rating.
Singh will be chasing history this week as he looks to become just the 16th man to complete the Dallas Fort Worth Double on the PGA Tour. The last golfer to accomplish that rare feat is Adam Scott. The Australian won the 2014 Colonial title to add to his 2008 victory at the Byron Nelson.
