By beating a legend in Roger Federer in a thrilling five-setter at the Wimbledon semifinals, Raonic catapulted himself a step closer to Grand Slam glory. Raonic, who became the first Canadian to reach a Grand Slam final, now turns his attention to defeating Andy Murray. Raonic will surely lean on his devastating service game. The 25-year-old pro has 137 aces to his name thus far in this year’s Wimbledon Championships, the most by anyone on the field. That includes the 23 aces he recorded versus Federer. Raonic’s dogged approach to every match could cause Murray fits. Raonic has twice found himself down by two sets in the event, but won both, including his dramatic 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 semis win over Federer.
A Grand Slam title match is no longer an uncharted territory for Murray. The British world No. 2 has a couple of Grand Slam wins under his belt, which includes his 2013 victory at the All England Club. His experience will be an advantage when he goes up against the hard-serving Raonic this Sunday. Moreover, Murray has the upper hand in the matchup with him going 6-3 in nine career matches against Raonic. He has won the last five meetings with Raonic, the last being a 6-2 6-0 win at the quarters of the 2016 Monte Carlo Masters.
