Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (+5.5)

For all mistakes this season, Kenny Hill can still be money in the bank for TCU. Hill passed for 206 yards with a touchdown in a close 24-23 win over Kansas on October 8. The lead could’ve been more comfortable for the Horned Frogs if it weren’t for Hill’s trio of interceptions that helped the Jayhawks gain some ground in the contest.

Nevertheless, Hill is a talented signal-caller, who could do damage both on the air and on the ground. He’ll be tricky player to deal with for West Virginia given his ability to run the ball. Against Kansas, Hill rushed 11 times for 36 yards with a touchdown to boot.

The Mountaineers’ defense is branded as among the elite but when Hill gets it together and utilizes the load of talent around him, TCU can be pretty hard to stop on the attack. TCU’s passing attack, which is sixth in the nation with 362.5, features the trio of Taj Williams, John Diarse, and Kyle Hicks. Williams is fourth in the Big 12 in receiving yards with 506 to go with four TD grabs.

TCU is 3-2 ATS in its last five road games.

Betting on the West Virginia Mountaineers (-5.5)

In case you have some doubts on WVU’s defense, the Mountaineers have it crushed last week when they threw Texas Tech into a mud in a 48-17 victory. The win over the Red Raiders extended WVU’s unbeaten run this season to five games.

In the Texas Tech game, the Mountaineers held Patrick Mahomes and company to only 379 total yards. That’s a big drop-off from Texas Tech’s season average of 510.8 total yards per game. Moreover, that was Mahomes’ worst game of the season, which is a positive sign for WVU’s secondary, which is mostly responsible why the Mountaineers are fourth in the Big 12 with only 250.8 passing yards allowed per game. WVU’s defense is definitely in prime state heading into a showdown with the high-flying Horned Frogs.

WVU’s offense isn’t too shabby either, as it is 16th in the nation in passing yards with 318.0 per game and 30th in rushing with 216.2.  Quarterback Skyler Howard has been effective under center for the Mountaineers. He has 1,590 passing yards with right touchdowns on 66.1 completion rate thus far this year.

West Virginia is 9-1 SU in its last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction
