FOX
Fox knows technology, man. And to illustrate that, the giant media outlet, in coordination with WhatIfSports.com, has been using a simulation engine to predict the outcomes of whichever games they’d like to preview. Below are some of their picks for Week 12 of college football.
Game | ATS Pick |
---|---|
Ohio State vs. Michigan State Ohio State | Michigan State (+21.5) |
Washington State vs. Colorado | Washington State (+3.5) |
Florida vs. LSU | Florida (+13.5) |
Fox’s Adam Meyer highlighted a few of these picks, including the No. 21 Florida vs. LSU tussle in Baton Rouge. This is an intriguing showdown, considering that LSU’s ground game is one of the best in the nation and Florida’s run defense is among the elite.
For all his brute and talent, Leo Fournette is unlikely to get anything he wants against Florida’s stop unit that allows just 111.4 rushing yards per game. That being said, Florida is dealing with some injuries on its defense not to mention that the Gators still don’t have starter Luke Del Rio because of a shoulder injury. Ultimately, this is going to be an LSU win according to WhatIfSports.com, though the Tigers will lose against the spread.
Campus Insiders
Game | ATS Pick |
---|---|
Ohio State vs. Michigan State Ohio State | Michigan State (+21.5) |
Clemson vs. Wake Forest | Wake Forest (-21.5) |
Arkansas State vs. Troy Arkansas State | Troy (-8.5) |
Adding to the already huge football weekend is the East Lansing war that features the visiting Buckeyes and the Spartans. Ohio State got a big boost last week when it destroyed Maryland 62-3 and saw the No. 2, 3, and 4 in the AP Top 25 all lose. These developments have made the committee promote the Buckeyes from No. 6 in the rankings to No. 2 this week.
But there’s no reason to party just yet for the Buckeyes, as they can still get pushed out of the CFP, especially if they stepped on the landmine in the form of Michigan State. Jeff Bartl of Campus Insiders predicts a dominant win for Ohio State although the Spartans will barely cover the spread as 21.5-point underdogs.
Bartl’s fellow expert at Campus Insiders, Rich Cirminiello, meanwhile, tackled the not-so-glittery scheduled meeting between Arkansas State and Troy. Still, this is an interesting collision of two teams undefeated in conference play. Troy made it to the Top 25 for the first time ever and is on a seven-game win streak since a close 30-24 defeat to then No. 2 Clemson back in Week 2. Cirminiello recognizes what Troy has done this season and even up against Arkansas State, which is on a tear of its own (5-0 SU in last five), he believes that the Trojans will prevail and cover.
