Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies (TBA)
A pair of big nights from Mike Conley and Marc Gasol gave Memphis its biggest win of the season against the red-hot Clippers on Wednesday, 111-107.
Conley went 9-of-12 from the floor, finishing with 30 points, five rebounds and eight assists. He also matched a career-high of seven three-pointers made. Gasol, meanwhile, poured in 26 points, which included the game-sealing baseline trey with 14 seconds left in regulation.
The win handed the Grizzlies their second-straight win, and their third one in four games (2-2 ATS). Now they look to finish off a four-game trip on a strong note against the Mavs, who have beaten them in the last three meetings.
Memphis is playing better basketball right now, while its Southwest division rivals are on a three-game skid and are battling several injuries. Hence, a win for the Grizzlies is expected.
Betting on the Dallas Mavericks (TBA)
There’s no doubt the offense will continue to come from Harrison Barnes, who leads the Mavs in scoring (22.9 PPG) this season. He’s finished with at least 20 points in the last five games, including back-to-back 30-point performances versus the Bucks and Lakers. But his efforts have not led to wins, as Dallas has won just two out of its first 10 games.
What’s more, Barnes could find himself carrying an even heavier load offensively with the recent injury to point guard J.J. Barea, the team’s second-leading scorer and facilitator.
With that, there is more pressure on the second unit, particularly Seth Curry (8.4 PPG) and Justin Anderson (7.0 PPG), to step it up. The Mavs’ bench is contributing 36.0 points per game, among the best in the league.
Wesley Matthews will also need to show up. He’s been as cold as ice with his stroke thus far this season, shooting just 31.4 percent from the floor. Matthews, however, had a pretty good night in the loss to Boston on Wednesday, finishing with 22 points along with six three-pointers.
Dallas is 1-2 SU and ATS in three home games this year.
