Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (-2)
Pittsburgh ended the Giants’ six-game run on Sunday, and also won its third-straight at the same time.
The Steelers offense amassed 389 total yards, with 117 on the ground. RB Le’Veon Bell continued his personal onslaught, collecting 118 yards rushing on 29 carries—his third-consecutive 100-yard game. He also caught six passes for 64 yards.
Speaking of which, QB Ben Roethlisberger threw a pair of touchdowns, including one to tight end Ladarius Green, who had a career game with 110 yards on six receptions. Antonio Brown, meanwhile, provided the highlight of the day with an acrobatic scoring catch in the second period, giving him four touchdown catches in the last two games.
That win allowed Pittsburgh to stay in step with the Ravens for the top spot in the AFC North. Now the Steelers look for the same result in another Sunday-afternoon matchup, this time against Buffalo on the road. They are 2-3 SU and ATS in their last five games away from home.
Big Ben and Bell could both find themselves having another signature game. The Bills inconsistent defense just gave up 38 points and nearly 400 offensive yards in their loss to Oakland.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (+2)
Back-to-back victories over Jacksonville and Cincinnati kept Buffalo—and its fans—hopeful of making the playoffs for the first time in 16 years this season.
However, Sunday’s collapse against the Raiders, a game in which the Bills owned a 15-point lead midway through the third quarter, probably crushed their chances. Buffalo dropped to 6-6, putting them two games short of Denver for the second wildcard spot in the AFC.
The Bills can finish 10-6 at best with four games left, but that record is unlikely good enough, considering the heavy competition in the AFC West. Nevertheless, they need to keep their heads up, stay optimistic and, more importantly, take care of business.
Buffalo will play host to the Steelers this weekend, and it’s obviously going to be another tough matchup. The latter team won the previous five meetings, going 4-1 ATS during that stretch.
If the Bills’ defense chokes again, then they should pray for another huge production from their rushing game, which collected 212 yards versus Oakland, to get the upset or at least keep the score relatively close.
RB LeSean McCoy led the way with 130 yards on 17 carries against the Raiders, his second-straight and fifth 100-yard outing of the season.
