Betting on the Los Angeles Clippers (TBA)
The Los Angeles Clippers extended their winning streak to three games with a thrilling 113-108 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Leading the way for the Clippers in this narrow win was Austin Rivers. He showed no ill effects of the concussion he suffered Saturday night against New Orleans. scoring a season-high 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.
Key to the Clippers’ stunning resurgence has been their incredible play on the offensive end. The Clips are averaging 122.3 points over their last three games. That sizzling offense was in full display Wednesday against the Magic where they shot a solid 50 percent from the field. Providing the impetus for this offensive explosion is Chris Paul. He’s averaging 19 points, 4.0 rebounds and 11.3 assists during this span.
Paul and the rest of the Clippers will look to replicate that performance when they take on the Heat later tonight. LA will fancy its chances of doing just that as it has fared extremely well against Miami of late. The Clippers have won three of their last four games against the Heat. They won both meetings with Miami last season, outscoring the Heat by an average of 10.5 points.
The Clippers are 7-3 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Miami Heat (TBA)
The Miami Heat stretched their unbeaten run to two games with a gritty 95-89 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Five players scored in double-figures for the Heat who improved their record to 9-17. This is the first time this season that Miami won consecutive games at home. They will look to make it three wins in a row at American Airlines Arena when they square off with the Clippers later tonight.
For Miami to accomplish that feat, it needs to get a huge performance from Hassan Whiteside. He scored 26 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in 34 minutes of action against the Pacers. Whiteside has been incredible for the Heat this campaign, averaging 17.6 points, 14.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game this season. The Heat will need more of the same from Whiteside if they are to beat the red-hot Clippers tonight. He averaged 10 points and 10.5 rebounds in two meetings with the Clips last season.
It’s also paramount for the Heat that they continue their excellent play on the defensive end. They held the Pacers to just 37 percent shooting from the field on Wednesday night. The Heat will have their work cut out for them, however, against an LA side that’s averaging 109.9 points per game this season, fifth-highest in the NBA.
The Heat are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
