Despite the coaching quandaries that have dominated USC news this season, the Trojans will remain focused in bringing home a bowl title. If they do, it will most likely be due to their tenacious defense, which they hope hasn’t left with former coach Ed Orgeron.
Under Orgeron, the Trojans went 6-2 SU, including a five-game winning streak. It was also under Orgeron that USC pulled out their biggest win of the season when it sent Stanford’s hopes for a BCS National Championship appearance down the drain.
Newly hired Steve Sarkisian is now at the helm of a Trojans’ squad that is not too generous in giving up points. The team’s scoring defense is 21st in the FBS with 21.3 points allowed per contest. USC is 5-1 in its last 6 games overall.

Derek Carr and his wide receivers’ production are utterly off the charts. With Carr quarterbacking, the Bulldogs are the best-ranked passing and receiving team with 4,917 yards. Carr’s favorite target, Davante Adams, is second with 1,645 receiving yards and tops everyone with 23 receiving TDs.
