Jeremy Guthrie didn’t have a good day yesterday—even if it was his birthday—as he was pounded down to a pulp by the Philadelphia Phillies in a deflating loss for the Washington Nationals. It’s bound to get better, though, for the Nats, as they’ll have Stephen Strasburg toeing the rubber against the Phillies later. That game along with the Cleveland Cavaliers-Atlanta Hawks tussle make up our picks for today’s best game to bet on.

Washington was thoroughly embarrassed Saturday night, absorbing a 17-3 loss at the hands of the Phillies in second of a three-game series. The Nats will look to shake off that loss and get a win to end the series when they send Stephen Strasburg later today. Strasburg won in the Nats’ season opener on Apr. 3, tossing for seven innings with just two earned runs on six hits in a 4-2 home win over Miami. The Nats are 8-2 in Strasburg’s last 10 road starts.
The Phillies, meanwhile, will counter with Jeremy Hellickson, who taking aim at getting had a no-decision in his first start of the season, surrendering an earned run on six hits across five innings of a 4-3 road win over Cincinnati, also on Apr. 3. The Phillies are 4-2 in Hellickson’s last six home starts.
Writer’s Prediction
Washington (-175)wins, 4-2.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks (3:30 PM ET)
Line: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks – view all NBA lines
LeBron James and the Cavaliers suffered a 114-100 embarrassing loss on Friday to Atlanta, which mostly played second and third stringers on a day that the Hawks rested their best players, Dwight Howard, Paul Millsap, Dennis Schroder, and Kent Bazemore. With Howard and company set to take the court tonight after a one-game rest, the Hawks will look to make it two in a row against a Cleveland team that has gone 12-14-1 ATS in games after a loss thus far this season. Atlanta, meanwhile, is 4-1 in its last five games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Cleveland wins, 110-106.
