Betting on Andy Murray
Based on the book of clichés, Murray shouldn’t be underestimating his opponent in the third round despite the British being heavily favored at odds of -2,000.
Murray breezed through the first two rounds of the competition running over Alexander Bublik and Dustin Brown, respectively, before punching a ticket to the third round. Murray has yet to drop a set and has been feeding off a strong service game, winning at least 77 percent of first serves in each of the past two matches.
Fognini appears to present himself as a more difficult opponent though Murray should still be able to use his advantage in terms of experience in playing under the bright lights.
Betting on Fabio Fognini
Ranked 28th in the world, Fognini is looking to prove that his upset of Murray in the two’s most recent meeting was no fluke.
Fognini upset the world number one last May in the Rome Masters, taking down Murray in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, albeit on a clay surface. In fact, he has beaten Murray three total times before, though none of which came on grass. In the Rome Masters match, Fognini wowed the crowd and confused Murray with his forehand, which was hugely responsible for the 31 winners he scored.
Fognini kicked off his Wimbledon campaign this year with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Dmitry Tursunov before proceeding to outlast Jiri Vesely in the second round, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-2.
