Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3)

Point Spread: (-3.5)

Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars suffered their third loss on the season against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6, they have continued to showcase a new offense and defense that is excited to talk about. Let’s start with the offensive side of the ball in the 27-17 home loss to the Rams.

Quarterback Blake Bortles looked better than the previous week as he completed 23 of his 35 passes for 241 yards with one touchdown. The Jaguars however are not a pass first offense as they continued to show off new rookie running back sensation Leonard Fournette. The rookie totaled 130 rushing yards on 21 carries as he is having a huge rookie year.

Fournette has now rushed for over 100 yards three times this season as the running game continues to be the offensive load thus far. On the defensive side, the Jaguars did not have a horrible game as 14 points of the 27 of Los Angeles came from special teams. Fix up special teams as it’s a 17-14 ball game.

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (2-4)

Point Spread: (+3.5)

The Indianapolis Colts may be without star quarterback Andrew Luck, but slowly backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett is making a good impression in the NFL. He looks look a NFL starting quarterback and needs to the extra help around him to get more victories. In their Monday night loss to the Titans 36-21, the Colts led for the majority of the game but fell flat.

QB Brissett finished the night with completing 21 of his 37 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. He may not be putting up spectacular numbers as Andrew Luck but he is moving the offense. Andrew Luck is still injured and it is unlikely he will suit up in this one.

The Colts defense fell apart in the fourth quarter last week, conceding 21 points, and surrendered a total of 473 total yards. Their pass defense has been awful and they really struggled against the run last week. Indianapolis is now in sole possession of last place in the AFC South and is 2-1 at home this season. Can they continue to impress the home crowd?

Writer’s Prediction:

The Jaguars have one of the best pass defenses in the league and with a lethal running game, the Colts won’t be able to stop the rookie sensation in the backfield. Jacksonville gets the victory against the Colts. Pick: Jags (-3.5)
