The Colts wasted an opportunity to strengthen their chance to make the playoffs when they lost to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 17, 23-20. They will try again in Week 18 against the lowly Jacksonville squad that Carson Wentz and company had already defeated this season. The Colts beat Jacksonville at home back in Week 10, 23-17. Running back Jonathan Taylor ran all over the Jaguars’ defense in that game, finishing with 116 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The Jaguars’ defense hasn’t improved much since – if it did at all. In fact, just last Sunday, the New England Patriots mowed Jacksonville down for 181 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries. Expect Taylor, with all the motivation in the world to win this game, to come up big for the Colts, who are putting up 27.5 points per game this season.
The Colts are 6-0 against the spread in their last 6 road games.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (+15.5)
Regular Season Record: 2-14
All the Jaguars want is a win to punctuate another forgettable season. Their losing streak got extended to eight games after getting crushed by the Patriots in Foxborough last Sunday, 50-10. But hey, at least Trevor Lawrence finally passed a touchdown after a long while. Lawrence finished with 193 passing yards with three interceptions on 17/27 completions against the Pats. With both James Robinson and Carlos Hyde out in Week 17, the Jaguars leaned on Dare Ogunbowale to take over most of the duties on the ground, and he responded by rushing nine times for 36 yards, while also scoring a touchdown on two catches. Jacksonville arrives in Week 18 with an average of 14.2 points and 304.6 total yards per contest. One thing about the Jaguars is that they have won all of their last six games as the home team against the Colts, dating back to 2015.
The Jaguars are also 6-0 against the spread in their last six home games versus Indianapolis.
Writer’s Prediction
The Colts win, 30-14.
