Betting on the Arizona Wildcats (21-6)

There have been plenty of times this season that it looked unfair for the Wildcats to have DeAndre Ayton on the floor. Ayton is a potential top pick in this year’s NBA Draft, and the freshman big man is not wasting any moment flashing his man-among-boys form in college. Ayton is averaging 19.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Double-doubles are the norm for Ayton, who is not the only one Oregon should be worried. There’s Allonzo Trier, a scoring machine who could produce points from anywhere on the floor. Trier is averaging 19.6 points, while Rawle Alkins and Dusan Ristic is chipping in 13.4 and 11.9 points per game. Ayton had 24 points and seven rebounds in Arizona’s 90-83 home win over Oregon on Jan. 13. Trier, meanwhile, torched the Ducks in that game with 25 points, while also going a perfect 11-for-11 from the the free throw line.

Arizona is 4-3 ATS in its last seven road games against Oregon.

Betting on the Oregon Ducks (17-10)

Oregon is averaging 78.5 points per game this season, but the Ducks’ offense could go hulk-mode again against Arizona. In the first meeting with the Wildcats, Oregon shot 47.4 percent from the field, but what allowed them to hang with Arizona is their free throw shooting, as the Ducks went 21-of-24 from the charity stripe. That said, Oregon needs to be a little more disciplined on defense, too. Arizona made 31 of its 37 free throw shots in that game, making it difficult for the Ducks to catch up. That’s also because they could not honestly stop Ayton and Trier, so perhaps the way to go for Oregon is to trade blows with the Wildcats.

Oregon guard Elijah Brown top scored for the Ducks with 25 points, while Mikyle McIntosh chipped in 20 markers. Peyton Pritchard, however, managed just 12 points, which was fewer than his team-leading average of 14.9 points per game.

Oregon is 4-1 ATS in its last five games against the Wildcats.

Writer’s Prediction

Arizona wins, 86-82.
