Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats – March Madness 2018

Kansas State avoided joining Virginia to ignominy, as the Wildcats downed 16-seed UMBC on Sunday, 69-59. Without star big man Dean Wade, the Wildcats got the job done against the Retrievers largely thanks to the effort of Bryce Brown and clutch plays from Xavier Sneed. Brown led the team with 18 points, while Sneed had eight, including a crucial dunk late in the second half. Wade has yet to play in the Big Dance because of of a foot injury, but is optimistic he’ll play against Kentucky, saying that he is “98 percent” ready for the Sweet 16 game. Per Kellis Robinett of Kansas.com. Wade is an all-Big 12 selection who led the Wildcats with 16.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game back in the regular season, and shot 55 percent from the field. K-State is a pretty solid defensive team with a defense that’s ranked 20th on KenPom.

Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats – March Madness 2018

Kentucky is bereft of seniors, but these Wildcats don’t seem to care. After all, they are winning their games, and in a suddenly wide-open South Region, Kentucky’s confidence just keeps on growing, which appears to be more important than experience at least for now. After downing Davidson (78-73) in the first round, the Wildcats crushed 13-seed Buffalo in the round of 32, 95-75. Freshman guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the most impressive Kentucky player of late. He scored 29 in Kentucky’s SEC title game win over Tennessee; had 19 against Davidson; and dropped 27 on the Bulls. Kentucky’s talented backcourt also features Kevin Knox and Hamidou Diallo, who had 22 in the Buffalo game. The reigning SEC champs were 68th in the regular season in points per game with 77.3 and has shot no lower than 51 percent from the field in each of their last two games.
