It’s Anthony Davis vs. LeBron James at The Q this Friday, which is a nice way to end a busy work week. Will New Orleans upset its host? Or will LeBron James and the Cavs even their regular-season series with the Pelicans?

Betting on the New Orleans Pelicans (41-31)
Anthony Davis has done an admirable job of putting the Pelicans on his back this season. The unicorn big man is averaging 28.2 points on 53.8 shooting from the field, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks so far this season. With DeMarcus Cousins out for the season, Davis has become the sole intimidating presence in the middle for New Orleans, which is fourth in the league in scoring with 111.4 points per game. When the Pelicans crushed Cleveland, 123-101, at home on Oct. 28, Davis scored 30 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to go with three blocks in 36 minutes of play. He is expected to dominate Cleveland’ slim frontline that is largely responsible to why the Cavs are allowing 46.9 points in the paint per game, seventh most in the league. Conversely, the Pels are second in scoring in the paint with 52.0 per outing.
Betting on the Cleveland Cavaliers (44-29)
Anthony Davis and LeBron James probably should just play one-on-one to decide the outcome of this game. Like Davis, James is an MVP candidate this season. The three-time champion is playing out of his mind even by LeBron James standards since February. Since the All-Star break, James is averaging 30.8 points on 56.6 field goal shooting percentage to go with 10.4 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game. In the first meeting with the Pelicans, he had 18 points and eight assists, though, that was when Cleveland was with plenty of players it no longer has in its current roster. The Cavs will now be parading the likes of Rodney Hood, Larry Nance Jr., and George Hill against New Orleans, which can’t read too much on the previous meeting with Cleveland given the defending Eastern Conference’s champs trade deadline overhaul. James and the Cavs should have no problem scoring the ball against New Orleans’ defense that ranks second worst in the NBA.
Writer’s Prediction:
Cleveland wins, 117-113.
