Betting on the Vegas Golden Knights (+1.5)
Vegas played physical and won the possession battle in Game 5, as the Golden Knights outhit and outshot the Sharks in that game, 53-35 and 39-30, respectively. Alex Tuch added to his playoffs total with two goals while Jonathan Marchessault, Erik Haula, and James Neal each scored a goal. Vegas also bounced back from a 0-for-5 power play line in a loss in Game 4 by scoring on the man advantage once on four attempts on Friday. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been inconsistent in this series, but with his experience, he should be the more dependable goalie between him and the Sharks’ Martin Jones in a crucial game like the one coming this Sunday. So far in these playoffs, Fleury has a 7-2 record along with a 1.68 GAA and a.946 saves percentage in nine starts.
Vegas is 3-1 in its last four games.
Betting on the San Jose Sharks (-1.5)
After a sensational performance in Game 4 in which he stopped all of the Golden Knights’ 34 shots, Sharks goalie Martin Jones came back down to Earth, as he gave up four goals on 31 shots faced in Game 5. Vegas was just the more aggressive team in the first two periods of the game, getting off 28 shots on goal against San Jose’s 17 in that span. San Jose has to turn the table in Game 6 and reclaim its puck possession dominance. They are third among all playoffs teams in shots with 35.0 and seventh in goal scoring with 3.33. The Sharks need to keep the pressure on Fleury all night long if they want to extend the series to a winner-take-all Game 7.
The Sharks are 3-1 in their last four games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
