Betting on Roger Federer (-1500)
Federer barged into the quarterfinals stage of this year’s Wimbledon thanks to a dominant 6-0, 7-5, 6-4 win over Adrian Mannarino in the fourth round. Although he’s 36, Federer remains a maestro at Wimbledon, as he has yet to drop a set in the tournament. He has an ongoing 12-set unbeaten streak, and will look to flash the same brilliant form against Anderson. Anderson is peaking right now, but Federer has defeated Anderson in all of the two players’ past five matches. In addition, Federer is 12-1 this year on the grass. We mentioned Anderson’s terrific serve in the tournament, but Federer is just on a level of his own in that area. Federer is tops in the field in converting his serves into points with a 92 percent mark. Furthermore, Federer has not been broken since the first set of last year’s championship duel against Marin Cilic, a match that the great Swiss of course won. It’s going to be very hard for Anderson to break – and beat — R-Fed.
Betting on Kevin Anderson (+800)
For edging out Gael Monfils in a grueling quarterfinals match that ended in a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) score, South African Monfils gets rewarded by his first-ever ticket to the quarterfinal round at Wimbledon and a chance to face greatest ever in the form of Roger Federer. The 32-year-old veteran peppered Monfils with a ton of big serves, as he recorded 20 aces compared to just nine by his opponent. Anderson also had 53 winners, 14 more than what Monfils had. So far in the tournament, Anderson is fourth in the tournament with 96 aces and seventh in first serve points won percentage with an 84 percent clip. In an interview following his fourth-round victory, Anderson made it clear that he plans to be aggressive against Federer. “I’m a big player, big serve,” Anderson said, per ESPN. “I’m going to have to really take it to him. I feel like I’m playing some of the best tennis of my career.”
