The Houston Texans, who are +1,000 to win Super Bowl 53 in the NFL Futures, are looking to make a huge turnaround this year after going 4-12 last season. With their stars now back in full health, the Texans are expected to be a legitimate threat to any team in the NFL today, which is the same thing one could say about the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams (+900) will play host this Saturday, as they welcome DeShaun Watson and company for a marquee matchup in the preseason.

Betting on the Houston Texans (+3)
Quarterback Deshaun Watson is getting sharper and sharper as the regular season draws nearer. In last week’s 16-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers at home, the former Clemson Tigers star went 5 of 8 for 73 passing yards and a touchdown. It was a brief performance, but it shows how healthy Watson now is after a long rehabilitation process from a knee surgery. Besides Watson, there are other players to watch for Houston, particularly on defense with J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, Tyrann Mathieu all making their 2018 debuts against the Rams. Over on offense, star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V are also going to see action for the first time this year this weekend.
The Texans are 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10 preseason games.
Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (-3)
After a pathetic performance in a 33-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 of the preseason, quarterback Sean Mannion bounced back in the second preseason outing to guide the Rams to a 19-15 win last week over the Oakland Raiders. Against the Ravens, Mannion completed just 3 of 23 passes for a mere 16 yards. Against the Raiders, he went 10 of 16 for 84 yards. Mannion, however, may take the backseat this Saturday, as the Rams are likely to give extended minutes to their starters, meaning quarterback Jared Goff will see action along with running back Todd Gurley. Unlike the Texans, though, the Rams are not expecting their best defensive player to play with defensive tackle Aaron Donald still on a holdout.
The Rams are 4-1 SU in their last five home games during the preseason.
Writer’s Prediction
