Betting on the Missouri Tigers
(3-2 Overall / 0-2 Conference)
A devastating third-quarter attack by the South Carolina Gamecocks foiled the Missouri Tigers’ hopes of booking a return ticket to the win column. Outscored by 17 points in the penultimate quarter, the Tigers had to settle with a 37-35 road loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks last week. It’s not easy, if not impossible, to make a case why the Tigers will beat Alabama, but if anything, Missouri has covered the spread in all of their last four games in which it was an underdog by at least 28 points. Last year, they covered a 28.5-point spread as a road underdog in a 53-28 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. Missouri has a dependable backfield that is producing 223.5 rushing yards per game –22nd in the nation. Against the Gamecocks, Missouri punished South Carolina’s defense for 286 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The over is 2-0 in Missouri’s last two road games as an underdog.
Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide
(6-0 Overall / 3-0 Conference)
With Alabama, you know what you’re going to get: Tua Tagovailoa’s arm and a stout defense. The Arkansas Razorbacks got a taste of both of those last week, when the Crimson Tide lowered the boom on them in a 65-31 victory. Tagovailoa threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns without an interception on just 10-of-13 completions. Tagovailoa is simply just on another level this year. On the season, he has racked up 1,495 passing yards and 18 touchdown passes against ZERO interceptions. He’s been immaculate, and it’s not a stretch to think he’ll emerge out of the Missouri game unscathed as the Tigers’ defense only has two picks to show so far this year. However, Nick Saban is probably not that happy with the performance of his defense in that game after his stop unit surrendered 405 total yards. Alabama is only allowing 334 total yards per game this season.
The over is 3-0 in Alabama’s last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Alabama wins, 47-17.
