Texas A&M Aggies vs Mississippi State Bulldogs Predictions, Picks, Odds and NCAA Football Betting Preview – October 27 2018

The Texas A&M Aggies and the Mississippi State Bulldogs are both playing catch up in the SEC West standings. The Aggies own a 5-2 overall record and a 3-1 SEC slate, while the Bulldogs have a 4-3 general ledger to go with just a 1-3 record in the conference. Still, it’s the Bulldogs who are the favorites in this coming Saturday’s showdown with Kellen Mond and the rest of the Aggies.

Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (5-2 Overall / 3-1 Conference)

The Aggies have lost to the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the nation this season, but outside of those games, they’ve been generally impressive. Take for example last week’s 26-23 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks at home. Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond had 353 passing yards and a touchdown on 25-of-37 completions, while running back Trayveon Williams had 78 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Aggies should not be expecting, however, that they will have it that easy next week against a Mississippi State, which owns one of stoutest stop units in the nation. That said, Mond and Williams have seen the best defenses in the nation in losses to Alabama and Clemson, so it’s fair to say that Mississippi State won’t rattle them as much as the Bulldogs think they would. Case in point: Mond had 430 passing yards and three touchdowns, albeit in a 28-26 defeat at the hands of the Tigers at home back in September.

The Aggies are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games.

Betting on the Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-3 Overall / 1-3 Conference)

Mississippi State saw its high-flying offense shot down in a 19-3 loss to the LSU Tigers on Oct. 21. The good thing for the Bulldogs is that they will enter Saturday’s contest with Texas A&M coming off an extra week of rest.  Against the Tigers, Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald coughed up just 59 passing yards on 8-of-24 completions. Worse, Fitzgerald also had four interceptions, so it was clearly a forgettable day for him and the Bulldogs. Fitzgerald, however, could see a bigger breathing room in the pocket against Texas A&M’s defense that is only 11th in the SEC with 241.7 passing yards allowed per game. The Bulldogs are averaging 21.0 points and 371.0 total yards per contest. Moreover, they are 13th in the nation with 237.5 rushing yards per contest. Fitzgerald paces his team with 644 rushing yard and seven touchdowns on 121 carries this season.

The Bulldogs are 3-1 ATS in their last four home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Texas A&M wins, 28-24.
