TV Broadcast: CBS

Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers (odds)

Record: 20-7 Overall/9-5 Conference

The Volunteers are coming off a 66-54 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats last Saturday in Lexington. That defeat came just after Tennessee scored a huge 68-59 home win against the Alabama Crimson Tide last Wednesday. Tennessee is still a dangerous team, though, mainly because of its defense. Rick Barnes’ squad is arguably the best defensive team in the nation, as it walked into the Kentucky game tops in adjusted defensive efficiency in all of Division I basketball and second nationally with only 56.7 points allowed per outing.

The Under is 5-1 in Tennessee’s last six outings.

Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (odds)

Record: 20-7 Overall/12-2 Conference

The Aggies took care of business last Saturday, as they beat the Missouri Tigers on the road, 69-60. Texas A&M also covered the spread in that game with ease, thanks to their defense that held Mizzou down to just 39.2 FG% and 34.6 3FG%. Wade Taylor IV led Texas A&M versus the Tigers with 21 points and he will be looked up again for production by the Aggies not just on offense but also on defense. Taylor is a top-65 player in the nation in terms of steals rate and top 35 in assists rate. As a team, Texas A&M is inside the top 5 in the SEC in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiencies.

Texas A&M is 5-0 against the spread in its last five games.

Writer’s Prediction

Tennessee wins, 68-62.
