Betting on the Boston Celtics (+2.0)
Regular Season Record: 57-25
The Celtics are coming off a 128-102 loss in Game 4 in South Beach. They still couldn’t solve Miami, and now, Boston is in a win-or-go-home scenario going forward in the Eastern Conference Finals. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown shot badly in Game 4 and needless to say, they can’t go 12-for-35 again in Game 4 if the Celtics are to see another game this season beyond Tuesday. Boston actually had 17 more attempts from the field than the Heat had in Game 4, but the Celtics just couldn’t get into a rhythm on offense. The hope for the Celtics is that for at least Game 4, they will be able to play they always had during the regular season and in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
The Celtics are 4-1 against the spread in their last five outings as a team on the road.
Betting on the Miami Heat (-2.0)
Regular Season Record: 44-38
Miami is so good, it’s almost hilarious. The Heat were not expected to reach this far in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, but here they are, just a win away from reserving their spot in the 2023 NBA Finals. Jimmy Butler had a relatively silent performance in Game 4, but his teammates picked up the slack and torched the Celtics. Miami shot 56.8 percent from the field and hit 19 3-pointers. Any team will have a hard time beating a squad that had an offense like that in a game. Can the Heat shoot that well again on Tuesday? Maybe. Either way, the Heat have all the confidence in the world right now, plus they will be playing at home again.
The Heat are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games after giving up 100 points or more in a prior outing.
Writer’s Prediction
The Heat win, 111-109.
