There are a number of ways for the Seattle Seahawks to clinch a playoff spot as soon as Week 16, but all those require them to either win or draw with the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. As for the Chiefs, they have reserved their seats in the playoffs, but they have some kinks left to work out before diving into the postseason. The Seahawks are +4,500 to win Super Bowl 53, while the Chiefs are +625 to do it.

Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (11-3)
One thing is certain about the Chiefs: they could score. However, their defense remains to be an issue for the team. That was made apparent once again in Kansas City’s 29-28 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15. In any case, the Chiefs will count on their offense to make up for their porous defense, a reality that, at this point of the season, they have likely fully embraced. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can definitely sling it, and he had two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 24-of-34 completions. Also, Kansas City may have found a new running back to rule their backfield in Damian Williams. Forced into the No. 1 running back role in the Chargers game due to the absence of Spencer Ware (hamstring), Williams led the team in both rushing and receiving, finishing with 49 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and 74 receiving yards on six receptions. Even if Ware gets greenlighted to play in Week 16, the Chiefs might have to stick with Williams, who looks as the more explosive athlete between the two.
The Chiefs are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight road games.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (8-6)
The Seahawks took a punch in the gut in Week 16 by losing to the already eliminated San Francisco 49ers on the road in overtime, 26-23. The Seahawks shot themselves in the foot numerous times in that game, as they committed 14 penalties for a loss of 148 total yards. While they are still likely to make the playoffs, playing with that kind of sloppy brand of football would get them embarrassed in the postseason. The good thing for the Seahawks – at least for now – is that the Chiefs don’t usually bring it on defense, so Russell Wilson and company will have to capitalize on Kansas City’s weak stop unit. Against the 49ers, Wilson went 23-of-31 for 237 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. Meanwhile, running back Chris Carson made plenty of things happen on the ground, as he finished with 119 rushing yards and a touchdown. Wilson and opt to rush the ball more together with Carson against the Chiefs, whose run defense is only 26th in the league with 126.9 rushing yards per game.
The Seahawks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Seattle wins, 27-24.
