Arkansas Razorbacks vs Florida Gators Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Basketball Betting Preview – March 14 2019

The Arkansas Razorbacks and the Florida Gators are two mediocre SEC teams who are going to treat the SEC Tournament as their last chance to make convincing wins to coax the Selection Committee into letting them into the Big Dance. Of course, that’s if neither teams win the conference tournament and get the automatic bid into March Madness. Arkansas and Florida are +200,000 and +15,000 to win the national title, respectively.

Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks (17-14 Overall / 8-10 Conference)

Arkansas seems to be feeling it. After a lengthy six-game losing skid, the Razorbacks have turned their ship around and won all of their last three contests. They beat the Ole Miss Rebels on Mar. 2 (74-73), the Vanderbilt Commodores (84-48), and the Alabama Crimson Tide (82-70) in their three latest assignments. Also, prior to that winning streak, the Razorbacks lost a close one to No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Feb. 26, 70-66. In other words, they are rounding into form just in time for the SEC Tournament and a rematch with the Gators, against whom they picked up a 57-51 home loss on Jan. 9. The loss to Florida, however, didn’t take away any shine from the performance of Mason Jones, who scored 30 points in that game, while Daniel Gafford had nine points and 12 rebounds. Gafford leads the team in points (17.0) and boards (8.7) this season. Arkansas has tightened up its defense, allowing nine fewer points (63.7) in their last three games than on the season (72.8).

The under is 3-1 in Arkansas’ last four games.

Betting on the Florida Gators (17-14 Overall / 9-9 Conference)

Just when it looked like the Gators were getting it together when they stitched together five-straight wins in conference play last month, including an upset win in Baton Rouge over the LSU Tigers, they once again burst into flames. Since a 71-55 road win over the Commodores on Feb. 27, the Gators have gone 0-3 SU, a stretch that includes a 66-57 loss in Lexington to the Kentucky Wildcats last Saturday. Still, Florida can’t be taken lightly by any team in the tournament. For one, the Gators’ defense can give a ton of headaches. The Gators are 16th in the nation with just 63.7 points allowed per game. Teams are shooting just 42.2 percent from the field against Florida, which is also fifth in the SEC with 7.4 steals per game. Florida held the Razorbacks to only 30.0 percent shooting from the field while forcing Arkansas to pick up 16 turnovers. KeVaughn Allen, Florida’s best player, scored 18 points in the Arkansas game.

Florida is 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last six meetings with Arkansas.

Writer’s Prediction

Florida wins, 68-65.
