Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference)
The Crimson Tide ran into some bumps early in their game against the Ole Miss Rebels last Saturday, but eventually found a way to destroy their opponents in a 59-31 home win last Saturday. Tua Tagovailoa made a step closer to becoming a Miami Dolphin (?) by passing for 418 passing yards and six touchdowns against zero interceptions on 26-of-36 completions. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Jerry Jeudy had a field day downfield, coming up with 274 and 84 receiving yards, respectively. Smith also had five of the team’s five receiving touchdowns. Texas A&M has some talent on their secondary, but the Crimson Tide’s receiving corps won’t be too fazed by it considering that the Aggies just allowed 297 passing yards to the Arkansas Razorbacks last week. Alabama swallows opposing defenses for 51.8 points per game and 555.0 total yards per contest, while allowing just 14.8 points per outing.
The Crimson Tide are 3-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last five road games as favorites by at least 18 points.
Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (3-2 Overall / 1-1 Conference)
The Aggies recovered from their disappointing loss to the Auburn Tigers by shooting down the Arkansas Razorbacks last Saturday, 31-27. It wasn’t the most comfortable of wins for the Aggies, but at least they set themselves up for some momentum to ride heading into a meeting with the colossal Crimson Tide squad. Kellen Mond churned out 251 passing yards and three touchdowns with an interception on 23-of-35 completions. The Aggies are going to need more support from the backfield, as they only had 89 rushing yards (with a touchdown) on 33 carries against the Razorbacks. A balanced attack is needed to soften up Alabama’s defense. That means the Aggies should veer a little bit away from their pass-heavy ways. Texas A&M is ninth in the nation with a 59.58 pass play percentage. Overall, the Aggies are averaging 25.5 points and 374.8 total yards per game. They are giving up 21.5 and 326.2 total yards per contest.
The Aggies are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games in College Station.
Writer’s Prediction
