The Michigan Wolverines are out of options to make it to the College Football Playoff, but they can take their arch-rival out of it, too. That is if they can beat the Ohio State Buckeyes this coming Saturday. It’s going to be easier said than done, though, as the Wolverines have not beaten the Buckeyes in the two teams’ last seven meetings.

Betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes (11-0 Overall / 8-0 Conference)
Ohio State kept its record unblemished after the Buckeyes cruised to their 11th victory in a row to open the season, taking down the Penn State Nittany Lions at home over the weekend, 28-17. Defensive end Chase Young, considered to be the best NFL prospect outside of the quarterbacks for next year’s pro draft, returned to action after a two-game suspension and wreaked nothing but havoc. Young had three sacks and nine tackles. Showing no signs of rust from his layoff, Young is expected to disrupt and keep Michigan’s offense hesitant whenever he’s on the field. The Buckeyes entered the Penn State game third in the nation with just 10.5 points allowed per game. Over at the other side of the ball, the Buckeyes are also going to be hard to deal with. There aren’t a lot of duos in the FBS more dynamic and effective than the Buckeyes’ tandem of quarterback Justin Fields and running back J.K. Dobbins. The two are mostly responsible for Ohio State’s attack that is No. 1 in the nation that’s averaging 47 points per outing.
The Buckeyes are 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games.
Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (9-2 Overall / 6-2 Conference)
The Wolverines are in a groove. While they are not going to book a spot in the College Football Playoff, they can get in the top 10 if they can take down the Buckeyes. In their last game, the Wolverines dominated the Indiana Hoosiers on the road, 39-14. Quarterback Shea Patterson passed for five touchdowns and an interception on 20-of-32 completions. It was as good of a performance anyone could have asked out of a quarterback, and the momentum he’s riding and the trust he’s garnered from the Wolverines should boost him in the matchup against Ohio State. The Wolverines’ offensive line, however, should also be up to the task. The Wolverines have one of the sturdiest pass protection in the Big Ten, though, they did allow two sacks in the win over Indiana. In any case, Michigan’s defense will have plenty of work and expectations to live up to in the Ohio State meeting. The Wolverines are ninth in the nation with just 16.2 points allowed per game and sixth with only 268.2 total yards surrendered per contest.
The Wolverines are 5-0 ATS in their last five games.
Writer’s Prediction
Ohio State wins, 32-28.
