The Kansas Jayhawks (+1000 to win the national title) are still looking to catch the Baylor Bears atop the Big 12 standings, but they don’t have a big window for mistakes, with conference play drawing to a close. The Jayhawks will take on the struggling but still dangerous TCU Horned Frogs (+25000) this weekend in Fort Worth.

Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (19-3 Overall / 8-1 Conference)
The Jayhawks stretched their win streak to seven games in conference play after taking down the Texas Longhorns last Monday, 69-58, at home. Kansas’ effort wasn’t enough to cover its 14.5-point spread as a home favorite, while the total went under the 131.5 line. The Longhorns could not get much success on offense against Kansas’ defense that held them down to only 37.7 percent shooting from the field. But the Jayhawks also did a good job in taking away extra possessions for Texas, finishing the game with a plus-13 advantage in the rebounding battle. Kansas possesses an unforgiving defense anchored in the middle by big man Udoka Azubuike, who came off the bench and had 17 points and 12 rebounds with a pair of blocks against Texas. Kansas is 11th in the nation with just 60.9 points allowed per game and eighth in defensive effective field goal percentage with opponents recording a mere 43.5 percent clip.
The Jayhawks are 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games.
Betting on the TCU Horned Frogs (13-8 Overall / 4-4 Conference)
The Horned Frogs failed to arrest their losing skid, as they lost to the league-leading Baylor Bears last Saturday in Waco, 68-52. It’s a disappointing turn of events for the Horned Frogs, who just started conference play racking up three wins in a row before losing to the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Oklahoma Sooners back to back. TCU’s last in came on Jan. 21 at home against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 65-54. The Horned Frogs committed 15 turnovers against Baylor, which were more than their already ugly average of 14.0 errors per contest. Kansas will convert most of those turnovers into points, so the Horned Frogs can’t afford to be careless with the leather. One thing about TCU is that it seems capable of holding its own at the rim on defense, as the Horned Frogs are 30th in the nation in blocks percentage and 36th with 4.6 blocks per contest. Those numbers don’t sound good for Azubuike and Jayhawks slashers.
The under is 2-0 in the Horned Frogs’ last two home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Kansas wins, 77-71.
